EspooAmbassador Award 2011 to Olli Simula

Head of Department Professor Olli Simula, has been awarded the 2011 EspooAmbassador prize. The prize is awarded in recognition of the work as an active conference organizer. During his career he has invited several international conferences to Finland. In addition, Simula has been a member of scientific or organizing committee in 33 international scientific conferences, of which five have been held in Espoo. Award was granted by the Espoo Convention & Marketing.

In summer 2011 the Department of Information and Computer Science organized ICANN 2011 (International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks) conference. In this context, also WSOM 2011 (8th Workshop on Self-Organizing MAPS) workshop was held. In October, it's time for the DS 2011 (The Fourteenth International Conference on Discovery Science), and ALT 2011 (The 22nd International Conference on Algorithmic Learning Theory) conferences, which will be held in Otaniemi.
